We are looking for a Buyer to work with our current Buying team based at Gym Kings Head Office near Leeds to support the rapid growth of the business. This role would be suitable for an established Junior Buyer ready for the next step or you may be an experienced buyer looking for a new challenge.
The ideal Buyer will be passionate, enthusiastic and hardworking with an eye for detail, driven by a love for product and fashion. The successful candidate will thrive from working in a fast-paced environment and work well under pressure.
Responsibilities
- Accountable for development and growth of product ranges
- Management of critical path across various product categories/COOs
- Confident in negotiating cost prices with a portfolio of suppliers globally
- Confidently able to present ranges to Sales team/Directors in sign off meetings and range reviews
- Good problem solver, timekeeper and highly organised
- Ability to identify new opportunities whether that be product based, within sourcing or with existing processes, future planning to ensure success
- Understanding the marketplace, regular consumer insight & analysis and feeding back into product teams
- Monitors and maintains stock and options alongside Merchandiser, ability to react quickly to challenging market conditions
- Trading stock file and executing the trading plan/KPIs set by the management team
- Strategic thinking with a can do attitude and positive mindset
- Completing seasonal lessons learnt analysis/range building and pricing architecture frameworks
- Working alongside design to develop new and exciting product ranges to produce a profitable product portfolio
- Forming strong and close working relationships with suppliers within weekly calls, with potential for overseas travel
- Cross-functional working with wholesale department managing key account and wholesale free stock buys ensuring timely order raising and data integrity
- Ad hoc admin duties – raising POs/Po amendments – management of full end to end process within your department
- Confident communicator reporting key information to Head of Buying and Directors
- Close working relationship with sales, design, garment tech, marketing and Ecom.
About You
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to influence others
- A quick learner who can process lots of information and prioritise action
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in fashion buying at a similar level is essential
- Relevant degree preferred but not essential
- Clear communicator
- Works well under pressure
- Wide range of product knowledge
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Proven ability to work independently & on own initiative
- Highly self-motivated, enthusiastic and dynamic individual

Hours
Due to the nature of this role, the hours will be full time (37.5 hours per week) Monday-Friday, although a flexible approach is required at times to meet the needs of the role. There may be a requirement to travel as part of this role.
