The Last Stoic Standing: The Ultimate Test of Strength and Resilience

Forget racing the clock. This is about discovering how far you can go when your body tells you to stop.

On Sunday 6th September 2026, Gym King and world-renowned endurance athlete Ross Edgley will bring The Last Stoic Standing to Farm Fitness in Essexan entirely new strength and resilience competition designed to test physical capacity, mental composure and relentless determination.

Inspired by the principles of Stoicism, this is more than a fitness event. It is a battle against fatigue, discomfort and the voice telling you to quit.

Five Stations. One Goal.

Competitors will take on five demanding stations, earning points based on their performance in each discipline. The athlete with the highest combined score will be crowned The Last Stoic Standing.

Station 1: Deadlift

The weight increases by 10kg every minute. Your maximum successful lift in kilograms becomes your points total.

Station 2: Press-Ups

Complete one repetition every three seconds for as long as possible. Your total number of unbroken repetitions becomes your points total.

Station 3: Bleep Test

Take on a 20-metre track across 21 levels and up to 247 shuttles. Every completed shuttle earns one point.

Station 4: Dead Hang

Hold on for as long as you can. Every second becomes one point, up to a maximum of five minutes.

Station 5: The Stoic Stone

Carry the Stoic Stone as far as possible. Every metre covered adds another point to your final score.

Each station continues until the last athlete in the wave is standing.

Can You Reach Elite Status?

Competitors will be chasing one of two elite benchmarks:

  • Men: 1,000 points
  • Women: 750 points

Only one in 200 athletes achieved elite status during trials, making these scores a true measure of exceptional all-round strength, endurance and resilience.

Those who reach the required benchmark will receive an exclusive custom trophy alongside their finisher medal.

More Than a Competition

Ross Edgley will be at the event throughout the day to meet competitors and share his experience. There will also be an exclusive Q&A featuring Ross and a line-up of special guests, including the Stoltman Brothers.

Competitors will also have access to a dedicated Recovery Zone featuring physios, compression boots and ice baths, while food and drink vendors will be available for athletes and spectators throughout the day.
