Gym King Sustainable - Be Better, Do Better

Here at Gym King, we are always striving to be better and do better. Sustainability is something we continually assess, to make sure we are doing the best we can. We believe it's important for everyone to do their part, regardless of how big or small it may be. And over the past 12 months we’ve been making some changes.

We want to make waste a thing of our past.Packaging is one of the biggest contributors to landfill & we’re committed to taking steps to eliminate, reduce, reuse and recycle where possible. By 2022, all production of our packaging will be 100% recyclable; by removing plastic components from where possible and where it’s not, amending to an alternative recyclable option. Introducing FSC card/ recycled yarns and poly bags made from Sugarcane. 25% of our new performance collection landing in January 2022 will be made from recyclable components. Our women’s collection will contain products made of 75 % pre consumer recycled nylon whilst our men’s range will be upto 100% pre consumer recycled polyester.

For now, this Friday we are introducing our first sustainable collection. The T-Shirts, which are being sold in packs of 2, are 100% organic cotton. The Fleece Hoodies and joggers are up to 40% recycled polyester fleece. Each piece in the collection has a smaller embroidered logo, and no metal work has been used. The products will be sent in biodegradable poly bags, with recyclable product labelling. We’re really excited for it to launch, and hope that you are too. There will be 5 tees, 3 hoodies and 3 joggers. This is a mens collection, with womens launching at the start of the new year.

Our end goal is to have a circular production flow, where clothing is 100% organic cotton which reduces water usage by upto 90% and eliminates the use of unnecessary harmful pesticides. And can also be returned, reused and repurposed. We are continually working alongside our factories to reduce carbon footprint, the water used in dyeing and assess all components used in the process. Having a nominated supplier helps us to understand factories we use and create transparency for us, and more importantly for you. We know we can do better. It starts with small steps, but we’re hoping by 2025 that our end goal is on the way to being achieved.
